Ford F-150 Clinches Four Years of Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards

It's almost a new year, although we might all be wishing auld acquaintances well, the auto research and valuation experts at aren't saying goodbye anytime soon to the new 2018 Ford F-150. Our favorite light-duty pickup earned a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award, making having taken home the accolade a four-year affair. But don't take the paraphrasing of a Sterling, VA Ford dealer for it. Quote the authorities themselves: for "four years straight, nobody else has come close to toppling" the Ford F-150 in the rankings.

What went into the year-long comparative evaluation and testing gamut it takes to earn top honors? KBB analyzed everything from vehicle pricing and five-year cost-to-own data to reviews and ratings from fellow light truck aficionados and vehicle sales figures. At the end of the day, the choice of the new 2018 F-150 was clear.

The list of the reviewers' favorites was long, too. Kelley Blue Book appreciated the new Ford truck's myriad exterior styling updates, among them, a two-bar-style black grille with like-hued nostrils aggressively flared atop a striking black surround. Ditto for the wider selection of powertrain options, including a new standard: a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine, putting out an energetic 265 pound-feet of torque to make the grade. Plus, KBB was happy to see that Ford made its "excellent" ten-speed auto transmission more widely available throughout the line. That meant access to specialized driving modes in select models like Tow/Haul, Snow/Wet, EcoSelect and Sport, and thus, readiness to tack across all types of terrain and through diverse weather.

Factor in best-in-class towing and payload ratings -- up to 13,200 pounds and 3,270 pounds respectively. Consider fuel economy at the top of the line – up to 20 city mpg and 26 highway mpg with a 325-horsepower, 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 powerplant. It's plain to see the new F-150 becomes the whole package for the specialist. But Kelley Blue Book didn't stop there, accolading the new Ford pickup for including more driver-assist tech than ever, from an available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection to a Lane-Keeping System, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology, and more.

Plus, with the "promise to add a turbodiesel to [the] lineup later this year," the reviewer is looking forward to further developments. The same goes for us here at Koons Sterling Ford.
