Performance
The Ford Ranger keeps things simple in the powertrain realm thanks to just one engine option. That's right, every new 2022 Ford Ranger comes equipped with the same 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine. Drivers can enjoy 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with this engine along with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Ford Ranger also offers up a choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Although there are no off-road trims of the Ranger, drivers can opt for some off-road packages. The Ford Ranger makes a Tremor, FX2, and FX4 package available. The FX2 package can be added to rear-wheel drive versions of the Ranger, adding in a special suspension, wheels, and tires. The FX4 does more or less the same thing as the FX2 package, expect it comes with four-wheel drive iterations of the Ranger. The Tremor package is the most off-road-ready package available with the Ranger, adding Fox shock absorbers, a trailer tow package, spare switches for winches, and simulated suede upholstery. The Tremor off-road package also includes a revised suspension with 0.8 more inches of ground clearance, off-road shocks, all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and recovery hooks.
Technology
The 2022 Ford Ranger covers all the modern tech essentials to help ensure that drivers can stay connected while taking on adventures along Harry Byrd Highway. The base XL trim level comes standard with a 3.5-inch infotainment display, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, and a 4-speaker audio system. If you're interested in sticking with the XL trim but want to add some more tech offerings to the mix, there's the 101A package, which adds a Sync3 infotainment system, a 6-speaker audio system, and a larger central display screen. Moving to the XLT trim improves things by adding in smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay/Android Auto) and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The XLT trim also makes several other packages available, including the 301A, 302A, and Technology package. The 301A packages adds in a host of comfort and convenience features along with a 110-volt power outlet. The 302A package adds a smattering of interior features while the Technology package adds driver assistance features along with a navigation system. In its most basic form, the Lariat trim doesn't add in any tech features. However, the Lariat trim offers up a 501A package, which adds remote start and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.

As far as comfort and convenience goes, drivers can look forward to all the classic interior offerings. Looking to stay comfy while heading to Red Wing Shoes? Fear not, the 2022 Ranger offers up a range of nifty options. The base XL trim includes cloth-trimmed seats, vinyl flooring, and air conditioning. While not the flashiest offerings, the XL trim does ensure all the classic functionality you'd expect. The 101A package allows drivers to add dual-zone automatic climate control to the base XL. The XLT trim level doesn't includes any interior additions other than keyless entry. The XLT 301A package allow for a leather steering wheel to be added while the 302A package offers up a manual sliding rear window, heated front seats, and power adjustable front seats. The top-level Lariat trim gains leather upholstery. The 501A trim level allows for additional interior features to be added, like a universal garage door opener and automatic wipers.
Safety
The Ford Ranger makes a mixture of driver assistance features and classic safety equipment standard along with a host of optional driver assistance upgrades. The XL trim level comes standard with forward collision mitigation along with seat belts and airbags. The 101A package adds in cruse control. The Co-Pilot360 package Is a dedicated driver assistance suite, which allows for blind-spot monitor with cross traffic alert and lane keeping assist to be added. The XLT 301A package makes rear parking sensors available while the XLT Technology package allows for front parking sensors and adaptive cruise control to be enjoyed. The 501A package adds automatic wipers.
